From competing in the 1500 meters at the 2004 Olympics to overcoming the challenges of marathons in Valencia and Rotterdam, Roberto Mandje's journey is filled with resilience, adaptation, and a relentless pursuit of growth. At the age of 34, he made the pivotal decision to transition away from professional running, embracing a new chapter as a hybrid athlete and a dedicated father.

Roberto's story isn't just about the highs and lows of competition; it's about finding joy and meaning in every step, setting an example for his kids, and inspiring others through coaching and public speaking. On this episode, we explore the lessons he's learned, the influence of his supportive mother, his unique perspective on life's chapters, and the universal language of sports that transcends cultures.

Tune is as we discuss the importance of mindset, belief in human capability, and the power of setting goals. This episode promises a wealth of insights for runners and dreamers alike. So, lace up your shoes, and let's dive in! 🏃‍♂️✨

Roberto Mandje was a professional runner from 2004 to 2016. During that time, he competed in the 1,500 meters at the 2004 Olympics, the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, and the XTERRA Trail World Championship, where he placed seventh in 2012 and fifth in 2013.
He started coaching both individuals and groups in 2005 and in 2016 he joined New York Road Runners. Roberto has coached runners of all ages, as young as middle school, both remotely and in person. He also coached runners as part of his (at the time) sponsors’ camps and running schools/clinics, such as Nike, Newton Running, and PowerBar, amongst others.

Roberto is currently on a quest to enjoy and experience running in new and different ways, while still coaching and inspiring others to reach their running and fitness goals. In 2023, Roberto paced several marathons and half marathons, and also captained a team for the TSP (The Speed Project) Atacama, a 500KM race across the Atacama desert in Chile.
