Jacob Heslington was born in Provo, Utah in October, 1994. the youngest of 7, with 6 older sisters. In 7th grade he started running competitively for the first time and it gradually pulled him away from all the other sports, and after his sophomore basketball season Jake decided to go all in with running. That next track season, he won his first state title as a sprint medley team. That fall (Junior year) Jake followed that up with a state title in cross country, and the 1600m/3200m titles in the spring. He won all three his senior year as well, earning the attention of Ed Eyestone at BYU.
In December. In 2018 Jacob was 14th at the US championships in the steeplechase. In 2019 he was once again an All-American in the steeplechase. His college career was cut short by the pandemic in 2020, and after some time not really knowing where he was going with running, Jacob decided to set his eyes on the 2024 Marathon Trials. He ended up getting in at the 2023 Grandma's Marathon. He was 21st at the trials about a month before his son was born.
